PORT MORESBY and FLEKKERØY - Wow…one moment I am in Oekiebukiekistan, where people live like they are from 6000 BC, and an hour later I am back in the big city! It took us about 36 hours to sail with the YWAM Medical Ship from Port Moresby to the south western part of Papua New Guinea, Western Province. I’ve been in a lot of different places in PNG, but this was the first time that the poverty, the sickness, and the misery was staring me right in the face, more than anywhere else I’ve been in PNG.

PORT MORESBY, PAPUA NEW GUINEA - When I said that the tribal-war film production in Papua New Guinea was going to be crazy hard, I wasn’t lying. It was really hard indeed. Making a film with a three-way language barrier, a massive culture barrier, in the middle of the bush with limited to no electricity, and very limited transportation… I can’t really think of a harder location to make a film.

Creation Fest 2023 - Brexit-Island

NEWQUAY - Here I am, back on Brexit-Island. To be more specific, YWAM England. Part of why I am here is to prepare for my next trip to Papua New Guinea, but I also came to this side of the world to meet my nephew, born last February, and to (re)connect with the church in the Netherlands.

PART 3 -  One of the reasons for me to travel to the Papua New Guinean Highlands was to show, promote and distribute the film, Beyond the Island. In-between my stay in Kompiam I was able to travel to a village in the province of Jiwaka. This is where Samuel and I filmed 3 years ago. So now I was going back to reconnect with the people there, and show the final result of the film!
